The myth of Karate - three common myths about martial arts can get you killed in the street!
Did you know that most adults in arts training martial during his first 100 days? When asked why he left, the leader replied: "lack of realistic training in self defense! "
But how is this possible? After all, is not the reason for learning a martial art is that you can defend and survive an attack in a real self-defense?
In this article, I talk about some of the myths and false beliefs "that make up what I call, "The Karate-Myth." Why do these beliefs, assumptions and illusions about the martial arts - and those who teach them - that up may risk even more!
Myth # 1 - A black belt means that you can fight. As a high school This false belief College focuses on the symbol of knowledge rather than the ability to produce results. A black belt or other belt, ring, patch or a certificate is used to measure progress in a particular system is just that - a symbol of progress through a program skills and training materials.
In the case of my own concepts Guerrero Master System, a particular range, as with a diploma Regents, said the student has the tools and knowledge. However, until that person will be able to put this knowledge and skills to use in a real world situation - Is it the responsibility of the student to "make it work."
As a side note, please remember that it is easy for anyone to go online, or in a supply store and buy martial arts a black belt. The capacity is reflected in the thoughts, words and actions of the person that owns it - regardless of whether a band never worn!
Myth # 2 - All The martial arts were designed for self-defense. Once again, here is another false belief, which stems from the hypothesis, no research. Here several martial arts schools that have absolutely nothing to do with fighting.
In fact, the star of martial arts action, Jackie Chan reached their skills in one school. In his autobiography, tells how his father took him to the school, which focused on production of martial arts actors and doubles.
And even if a particular martial art was originally developed for combat, there no guarantee that it was not "smoothed" over time and becomes a system of meditation, fitness, or any of a dozen other non-combative.
Myth # 3 - All martial arts instructors can teach you how to defend themselves. Probably was considered the most dangerous. Because even if the person has attained the rank black belt (see my comment on the purchase of above), and he or she considered as a combat-oriented martial arts ...
... It's still no guarantee that this person knows what it looks like an attack scenario real.
It is believed that the trophies and the struggle of the tournament is the best way to prove the skills of self-defense. I totally agree. In fact, the very system of rules and "justice" exists in all sports, including boxing, mixed martial arts and UFC fights and martial arts tournaments contradicts the reality of "no rules" in the street!
The black belt around the waist Martial arts teacher is one sign of progress - the amount of information it has and can share with you. Does not represent the experience - Knowledge the real world, they learned in school "hard knocks".
If it is true that there are charlatans who distort. And There are schools of the publication of countless martial arts "legitimate defense" in its advertisements and shop windows.
However, it can be our misconceptions and assumptions that prevent us from self-imposed check and ensure that they learn is in fact what he takes to win!
